Ending the year in style

October 2005

Report: Mike Hayden

Strawberry Racing delivered in style at the final of the B4 Group Super One round at Lydd at the weekend, winning both the senior and Junior Rotax Max finals, in what has been a hotly contested class all year.

Following on from his crushing victory in the Kartmasters GP race at PF International in August, David Bellchambers won the Senior Rotax Max final in style, using the new and promising prototype 2006 kart. The new kart looked truly amazing and the former indoor kart centre champion Silverstone graduate was never going to be beaten.

Former Formula 1 driver and Champ Car racer Justin Wilson's younger brother, Stefan Wilson, won the Junior Rotax Max final, to end up fifth in the 2005 Championship. Stefan has become stronger as the 2005 season developed, and made sure he ended with the sort of flourish that he has been promising to do all year long.

Sadly for the other Strawberry Racing drivers, Greg Harper could have won the championship, but he unfortunately experienced an accident in the final, which meant that he finished third overall in the Championship. With Stefan in fifth place, this left Benjy Whitehead 12th, and Daniel Lloyd 15th. The results were important for the Team, as it now means that four of the Strawberry Racing drivers earned a 'number' for 2006.

The Winter Series is the next most important event on the calendar and Strawberry Racing will be out in force, keen to capitalise on the Super One successes of 2005.
