Stunning debut for Marshall
3rd November 2009

Jack Marshall wins on first outing with the team, whilst Barrie Pullinger also impresses on senior bow.

Jack opened his Strawberry account with a superb victory in his first outing in the team’s colours at PFi, last Sunday (1 November).

A bent axle in his first heat scuppered his chances of a better grid slot for the final, although he raced well in the second encounter to finish third and give him P14 on the final grid.

An electrifying first lap saw him pick off seven karts, and over the next two laps he quickly made his way up to third. By lap five, he’d taken the lead and was never headed again.

Team Manager Warwick Ringham was understandably delighted, saying “Albeit that this was only a club race, Jack was up against very good opposition and he did a great job. He made the most of the material we gave to him. It’s a very, very good start to his career with us. I’m very encouraged by what I’ve seen, even at this early stage.”

Having stepped up from the junior ranks, Barrie Pullinger was making his UK senior debut and put in a polished performance.

On a damp, greasy track, he survived the Lincolnshire circuit’s notorious first three corners and completed the first lap already in fifth place. As the race unfolded, he became involved in a tight scrap with a gaggle of other drivers but with just two laps remaining, passed three karts to move into fourth. He held on with two drivers breathing down his neck as he took the chequered flag.

Warwick said, “Barrie did really well. When you see some of the names he was competing with and their experience and then look at the result he pulled off, well you have to be impressed. The conditions were tricky too and like Jack, he started in mid-pack and came through for a top five finish. It was a good weekend for us.”
