IAME British Champs at Larkhall
Strong showing across three classes!
Strawberry Racing travelled to this race well prepared and didn’t disappoint with, for the most part, a consistent showing at the front in X30 Junior, X30 Senior and Iame Cadet.
For most of the free practice sessions the three juniors of Aaron Walker, Joseph Taylor and Josh Rowledge, occupied the top three positions and then converted this into similar results throughout the weekend, Saturday ending up 1/2/6 overall in TQ, then with Taylor taking two heat wins, Rowledge a win and a 2nd and Walker a 5 & 6 finishes. The final saw a similar trend with a 2/3/4 on track finish – Walker taking a penalty to P9. Jack Gordon had a solid day taking P6 overall in the final always in the front group all day, and some fastest laps in free practice. Ethan Jeff Hall battled for the win in the IAME cadet final but had to settle for 5th, Monde Jr 15, Fionn McGlaughclin 21st and Daniel Sofronea 22nd.
Sunday saw Aaron Walker take the overall spoils in TQ this time for the team with overall Pole, his team mates inside the top ten, Gordon 4th overall with some more improvement from the local lad the cadets having a difficult TQ.
Walker took a P2 and a DNF after contact from another competitor for the lead, Rowledge 2 x P4 and Taylor and 3 & 6th combo. Gordon was solid again in Senior with a 4th and a 2nd, eventually finishing the final P4 overall, a great achievement with a high level of driver to compete against. In Junior the final was fraught, Taylor took a valiant P5 with the steering column bolt snapped from lap 2 hampering his progress, Walker was recovering from a lowly grid position taking a great P7, and Rowledge took P8 on the road but a bumper put him to P13.
The cadet team fought hard and came away with Ethan Jeff Hall P6, Monde JR 10th, Fionn 11th and Daniel 21st.
