2019 Strawberry Racing Review... What a year!

2019 Strawberry Racing Review... What a year!

CEK/RGMMC X30 WINTER SERIES
The year started on a high as early as mid-January with new signing Aaron Walker taking an emphatic victory at the all new RGMMC/CEK Winter Series 1st round at Chiva Circuit. Setting himself up for a year of huge progression in which
he has shown blistering pace and good race craft, another major victory eluding him but we take this into 2020 with confidence he will fight for many more victories.

RGMMC WINTER CUP X30
Literally weeks after that win in Spain, the Strawberry Seniors took over the mantle. This time it was the Official Winter Cup at the same venue in which TQ proved fruitful with Dean Macdonald taking overall pole and never being headed there
after winning all of his heats and both finals to take the title. Romain Leroux, Mathilda Olssen and Jordan Brown Nutley all had their shot at the front of the heats with Olsson and Leroux taking heat wins. In Junior, Josh Rowledge took a
well deserved P2 in the final.

IAME X30 SERIES BENELUX RD 1
The team then travelled to Mariembourg in Belgium, for the first round of the IAME series in preparation for the first Euro Series round. Wilgot Edquist took a fine podium P3 in Junior on his first time at the circuit, and Romain Leroux P6 in
Senior again his first time there.

X30 EURO SERIES ROUND 1 BELGIUM
The team showed good pace again here with Mark Kimber taking P3 getting himself off to a strong start to the series.

MOTORSPORT UK ROUND 1 PFI
Josh Rowledge took P3 in a thrilling final, and Kimber P4 in Senior, both getting their campaigns off to a strong start. Ethan Jeff Hall took P6 in the Cadet Final on Saturday, and Fionn Mclaughlin also took P6 on Sunday.

IAME NATIONS CUP - CASTELLETTO
With the duo of Walker and Rowledge taking various 1-2 finishes in TQ and the heats, the final wouldn't go Walkers way with contact from another driver. Rowledge went on to take the victory for Strawberry.

ROTAX EURO TROPHY ROUND 1 BELGIUM
Wilgot Edquist took P5 in Junior with Mathilda Olsson taking P2 in Senior narrowly missing out, but taking good points forward. Jordan Brown Nutley took P12.

MOTORSPORT UK RD 2 SHENINGTON
Mark Kimber took P1 on Saturday and a great P2 on Sunday. With Josh Rowledge taking the win on Sunday this rounded off a great weekend for the team. The cadets took P5 & P9 with Jeff Hall and Konini, JR on Saturday with Jeff Hall P9 on Sunday.

X30 EURO SERIES ROUND 2 ITALY
In Junior Strawberry took P3 & P4 on the road, with new signing Joseph Taylor taking a nose cone penalty, and Rowledge making the podium. Jordan Brown Nutley took a great P4 with Kimber in P7.

ROTAX EURO TROPHY ROUND 2 ITALY
In Junior Wilgot Edquist took P3 overall, Mathilda Olsson setting the standard for the rest of 2019 winning by 1.5 seconds!

MOTORSPORT UK ROUND 3 LARKHALL
At Larkhall pace was good and this showed on Saturday with our Juniors 2, 3 & 5 on the road. Walker taking a nose cone penalty post race, dropping him to 9th. In Senior Jack Gordon took P6 on Saturday and P4 on Sunday! In Cadets Ethan Jeff Hall fought for victory both days but conceded in the end to P5 & P6 respectively, a strong showing from the young man.

IAME CADET O PLATE X30 SUPPORT
In IAME Cadet for the 'O' Plate, Jeff Hall took P6 and in the Junior X30 support race new signing Cian Shields took victory on his Strawberry debut, followed closely by a hard charging Aaron Walker, the duo dominating the final, team mates Rowledge in P6, Taylor P7.

MOTORSPORT UK ROUND 4 ROWRAH
This round saw the Strawberry Juniors really up the ante with Joseph Taylor taking overall pole by near on three tenths of a second, then a P4 and P1 respectively in the two finals. Cian Shields took P6 on the road on Saturday and then Sunday saw
Rowledge follow Taylors victory up with P3 and Walker P10. IAME Cadet saw the ever consistent Jeff Hall take P4 and then P5 respectively across the two finals.

ROTAX EURO TROPHY RD 3 SWEDEN
Wilgot Edquist took an emphatic victory in his home race! Mathilda Olsson took P2 in the main final.

X30 EURO SERIES RD 3 GERMANY
Now on a roll in terms of pace throughout the team, Strawberry fielded a larger than usual squad including drivers from Finland, Malaysia as well as the current crop of drivers. Not to dissapoint, in Senior X30 they took a 1-2-3 in the main final with Kimber coming out on top. A fantastic result for Mathilda Olsson in P2, and Jordan Brown Nutley in P3. Junior was looking good too until the dying laps with Taylor leading the lion share of the race, until contact denied him at least P2, Rowledge driving from last to P4 on track.

KARTMASTERS - PFI
3 CLASSES, 3 PODIUMS! Joseph Taylor P2 in Junior X30, Lewis Gilbert P2 in Senior Rotax & Brown Nutley P2 in Senior X30!

MOTORSPORT UK 3 SISTERS WIGAN
Aaron Walker took a solid P7 in Junior on day 2, Mark Kimber took the P3 on Saturday after racing new team mate for a podium slot. The latter afterwards disqualified after a good run at the front in his Strawberry debut. Kimber
going on to take an emphatic victory on Sunday overall.

X30 EURO SERIES FINAL RD FRANCE
In Junior a rough weekend was had by all three for one reason or another, but pace was there to see once again, Walker keeping his nose clean with another solid P7, Taylor and Shields having to come from the back making around 20 places each
to arrive in 11 & 13 places respectively (Shields was up to P6 but took a nose cone penalty), Mark Kimber finished the year in style taking the final win and duly taking the Euro Series title to boot for the second year running!

ROTAX EURO TROPHY GERMANY
Mathilda Olsson had been the class of the field all season in Rotax and the title was sealed prior to this, but as a true Champion she raced for the win. In the end she took P2 behind team mate Lewis Gilbert who took the spoils. Edquist took a well deserved P3 in the championship both with tickets to the Grand Final in Sarno.

MOTORSPORT UK FINAL WHILTON
Aaron Walker took a huge on track victory on Saturday to mark his arrival as a serious contender, only to take penalties and a DSQ for track limits with a lot of others, his new team mate Aiden Neate taking P6! Sunday saw Joseph Taylor's turn for victory, this one was upheld! Team mate Walker took P6. In Senior, new driver to Strawberry, Matthew Armstrong took P5, Lewis Gilbert P9. In IAME Cadet, Jeff Hall took P4 on Sunday and Tonykart shod Harley Keeble took the title for ORM showing the Tonykart/OTK Cadet is here and winning! In the points Joseph Taylor took No.6 seed, Matthew Armstrong and Aaron Walker took No.9 seeds in their classes, Ethan Jeff Hall No.5 - Great work boys!

LE MANS IAME INTERNATIONAL FINAL
This really is the big one everyone works all year for... Strawberry didn't dissapoint. Junior pace was astounding, even with bad TQ's for Walker and Shields, they drove through in their heats but a DSQ for Walker, and nose cones for Shields, put paid to a good start place for them in the finals. However Aiden Neate had a decent TQ
and gridded on row 2 for all his heats, taking a P2 in heat one, but then had some bad luck in another, and then all three started around each other near the back of the main finals. Shields tore through around 20 places to P6 on the road, taking
a nose cone, Aiden Neate taking a great P10 in only his 4th Junior race from Cadets and Walker P14 on the road. In Senior Mark Kimber controlled the final once in the lead to take the win and the title of International Final Winner 2019! Also the same in Senior Pro, Dean Macdonald did the same, with team mates Pirthilathi and Olsson taking the flag in P7 & P8! An amazing team effort all round! Double IIF Winners 2019!!

ROTAX GRAND FINALS ITALY
Newest Team member Guy Cunnington crossed the line to win, but a timing differential made him concede to take the vice champion title. More from this man next season.....

BENELUX IAME SERIES
Cian Shields took the overall Junior title finishing the job off at Mariembourg Belgium - great work Cian!

We'd like to thank everyone involved in such a pivotal year for Strawberry Racing, without all of the great mechanics, drivers, parents, data analysts, engine preparation staff, office and administration and just everyone involved, none of this wpould be at all possible.
